I would not recommend this surgeon. I needed surgery for a large abdominal hernia. I initially saw her in July 2021 at which point I was 10 months post closure of a colostomy after which a hernia had formed. I also was 5 months post closure of an ileostomy. She deemed me as not ready for surgery yet. She recommended I wait till and return to her in September. She cancelled that appointment then I saw her in October. She said she would do the surgery. Her next available surgery date was in December. She said she would see me around thanksgiving. And mentioned that it might be a good idea if I tried to loose 10 lbs. so when I saw her in November she cancelled the surgery because I had not lost 10 lbs but had only lost 6. I freaked out on her and she just dismissed me out of hand. I sought a second opinion from another surgeon and he saw no reason that he could not proceed. When I mentioned to him her reasoning for not proceeding, he said that he found no medical reason not to do the surgery. Dr Shao, just didnt want to do it, maybe she isnt experienced enough to admit she didnt know how to handle my case. She is a dishonest and deceitful doctor. I would not recommend her to anyone.
