I was at the hot springs VA hospital, the nurse was seeing me for something, I had a concern with the wounds on my leg, she let Dr Shippey know and he came right over. Thats amazing Veteran care, thank you.
It seems like with everyone being diabetic these days that doctors would do more to try to educate their patients regarding diet and exercise to control their weight and blood sugar. But, unfortunately they dont. Dr Shippee was direct and honest about the correlation between the nerve pain I was having in my feet, my blood sugar and my weight. It was tough to hear but I am grateful he had the courage to discuss it with me, it changed my life. I have since began riding my bike, walking and watching carefully what I eat. Ive lost 54 pounds, my feet no longer hurt to the severity they did, my knees and back feel great and I have more energy then I have in the last 20 years.

Better then expected. Refreshing to have a doctor actually explain in plain english what is wrong and how he was going to help me fix it. I appreciated the use of the internet to show me pictures to help get his point across.
