It’s a common knowledge that people with diabetes have to put an extra effort into maintaining their blood sugar levels. That is because their body either unable to produce insulin or cannot process insulin properly, which causes glucose to get accumulated in blood instead of getting into body cells. As a result, people with diabetes are very much prone to high blood sugar, which can cause serious health issues.

One of the main keys to successful blood sugar management is a proper diet. Consumption of foods that are high in carbohydrates, fats, and calories are better be considerably reduces or avoided altogether, which usually comes to that once you have been diagnosed with diabetes, your diet and eating habits have to be completely revised. – Some foods just have to be forgotten, while other foods should be present on your menu more often.

One of those foods that should be a regular on your dinner table is cauliflower for its benefits for people with diabetes. Cauliflower is very low on calories – just 29 per cooked cup. It also has a very low GI score of only 15. Besides, cauliflower is rich in vitamins such as vitamin B6 and B12, vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin K, and contains an impressive collection of minerals, including magnesium, potassium, phosphorous, zinc, iron, and calcium. In addition to that, cauliflower provides digestive, immune, cardiovascular, anti-inflammatory, and detoxification benefits, which makes it a really great food for people with diabetes.

Cauliflower can be cooked in many different ways, giving you room for imagination. For example, it can be used as a substitute for a potato or rice.
