Staying in control of your blood sugar levels has to be your
life-long mission if you have diabetes. To succeed, you need to constantly watch
what you eat and drink, but even though many tasty items do not make the list
of the allowed foods, there are still plenty of safe choices out there. But what
about the drinks? What if you want to treat yourself to something less boring
than a glass of water, especially when you find yourself at a social gathering?
Alcoholic beverages are not a great choice for diabetic people. You can have some
alcohol in moderation, but most likely you don’t want to stretch one drink out
for the entire party. This is where virgin cocktails come to the rescue.
Virgin cocktails, or mocktails, are mixed drinks that are
made without alcohol. Although virgin cocktails are often made with sugary
ingredients such as sweet sodas and juices, they can be easily created with diabetic
people in mind by using sugar-free ingredients instead. Diabetes-friendly virgin
cocktails or mocktails can be made with fresh fruit, club soda, sugar-free
syrups, spices, and other ingredients that will give you delicious drinks with
which you can perfectly enjoy the party.
